Aiden

Seattle, Washington, USA (2003 – present)

Aiden is an American rock band from Fife, Washington that formed in the spring of 2003. The current members are William Francis (vocals & guitar), and Nick Wiggins (bass). William originally played bass but took over lead vocals when the original singer left. He has also played rhythm guitar since 2008.

They named their band after Aiden of The ring, who they met one night in Seattle whilst at College
Their first full-length album Our Gang's Dark Oath was released on Dead Teenager Records in 2004. It was recorded while Jake Davison and Angel Ibarra were still in high school, being released shortly after they had left.

Later in 2005, the band were signed to Victory Records. Their second album and debut for Victory Records titled Nightmare Anatomy was released October 4, 2005.

Aiden contributed a cover of Nirvana's "Drain You" to Higher Voltage, a CD given away free with Kerrang! magazine.

In March 2006, Aiden played a tour of the US supporting 30 Seconds to Mars without Emanuel and Keating.

In May and June 2006, they toured the U.S., supporting the Finnish band HIM, supporting them in their Dark Light tour.

In April 2007, they played a tour of the UK supporting Lostprophets with Taking Back Sunday. They also played the 2007 Taste of Chaos North American Tour alongside The Used, 30 Seconds to Mars, Senses Fail, Saosin, Chiodos, and Evaline. They played a West Coast tour, followed by a national tour, Confessions in the Dark Tour, with Drop Dead, Gorgeous, Still Remains, and 1997. They have completed the International Taste of Chaos tour.

Aiden's song "One Love" appears in Resident Evil: Extinction, and their song "We Sleep Forever" is featured in the motion picture Dead Silence.

The band's third studio album entitled Conviction was released August 21, 2007. It marks a complete change of style in the band's musical direction.

On the 9th of October, 2007, through a MySpace bulletin the band announced that they were filming their next music video, for the song "Moment," thus confirming it as the next single.

The band played a show in Anchorage, Alaska in January 2008, introducing their U.S. tour with Madina Lake in February and March, 2008. This was the first part of their three-part "World by Storm Tour", the second part of which was a month-long Europe tour with Kill Hannah from late March to late April 2008. The third part, a tour from Massachusetts back to their home base in Seattle, occupied much of May 2008, but the band pulled out of the tour after two shows, according to their web site for "personal reasons." However, the band did reinstate the final two shows, in Spokane and Seattle, near their home base.

They played the Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey in May 2008. Aiden recorded their own version of Ashley Massaro's theme music "Let's Light a Fire Tonight" for the bonus edition of WWE The Music, Vol. 8.

On May 20, 2008, the band announced on their website that Jake Wambold was no longer a member of Aiden. They played their first live show as a four piece in Spokane, Washington on May 24, 2008.

Francis has started a website and a MySpace page for a side project called William Control. William Control is a sort of alter-ego to wiL, and the albums consist of dark content lyric-wise, which wiL stated in a Kerrang! interview did not suit Aiden. William Control released its debut album Hate Culture in October 2008. On June 8, 2010, a second William Control album titled Noir was released.

Aiden also appeared on the soundtrack to Lost Boys: The Tribe with a cover of the theme song "Cry Little Sister".

Aiden did a European tour in October 2008, followed by a U.S. tour in November, called The Suffer Little Children Tour, finishing December 7.

On December 14 Aiden posted a blog on their MySpace saying that they are in the studio writing and recording songs for their next album. The blog also said that there are about 25 songs that they are working with and wiL also mentioned he'd written 30 songs for the new record in an Alternative Press podcast. The next album is said to be "darker." In an interview with Kerrang! magazine, wiL told that he has written 23 songs so far, but is wanting to write about 30, as they are planning to release a double album. He describes the new songs as being "totally different to William Control [his Solo project] of course, but the attitude's the same." It will be recorded at the same studio wiL produced Hate Culture. "I think that a lot of people who hated Conviction will really like this one. But who knows and who really cares? We're just going to make the record we want to make."

Ibarra has also begun a self-named side project, which had its first performance in Metro Seattle in late January. He has also announced a new side project with Davison, called Rock 'n Roll Weekend. Wiggins has also announced a side project, Me vs Myself.

Aiden latest full length album entitled Knives was released on May 12, 2009 (May 11 in the UK). On March 31, 2009, a new single, "Scavengers of the Damned," was made available through iTunes, the second single being Let The Right One In.

In April Aiden announced a UK tour on their MySpace. They stated that they chose the smallest venues that were available, Tonight is Goodbye (But pulled out halfway through the tour Young guns replaced them for the rest the rest of the tour) were announced as support for the tour, with Lost On Landing providing support in their hometown of Southampton.

In May 2009 Aiden headlined the Music Saves Lives Summer Kickoff Party. While out on the 2009 Van's Warped Tour they did signings for the non-profit organization where they met with fans who gained special access to the band by donating blood.

The band toured on the 2009 Warped Tour, but has announced few shows for the fall, and both Francis and Wiggins have announced shows for their respective side projects. They played a Halloween show after Francis acoustic UK tour entitled Devils Night. On his Twitter Francis also said Aiden are in the progress of writing a new record. In January and February Aiden accompanied Anti-Flag on the 'Economy Sucks, Let's Party!' Tour, where in Chicago they filmed a live DVD and CD entitled From Hell...With Love, which was released on March 16, 2010, as stated in an interview with BareBonesMusic.com. Also in addition they stated on Kerrang that they will be returning to the UK and Europe with Saosin. After Saosin pulled out, the tour was planned to continue but was later cancelled because of a lack of funds. Aiden are now set to return to the UK in Nov/Dec with Support from Francesqa and The Dead Formats.

On February 2, 2011 Aiden released on their website the title of their new album Disguises which was released on March 29, 2011. The first single released was "Walk Among the Dead" on iTunes. A music video for "Hysteria" was released in April, and a music video for "A Portrait of the Artist" was released the last week in June.

On May 9, 2011 Aiden announced that drummer Jake Davison left the band, for reasons of pursuing a new direction in life. According to William in a blog on Myspace, Davison's departure and relationship with the rest of the band did not end badly.

Aiden released their sixth studio album Some Kind of Hate on October 25, 2011. It was the last album released on Victory Records. A music video for the first single "Broken Bones" was filmed, and premiered on youtube.

On January 1, 2012, lead guitarist Angel Ibarra decided to leave the band. Despite this, the band has spread and is on tour in Southern California.

Polar Bear Club

Rochester and Syracuse, New York (2005 – present)

Polar Bear Club is a / band from Rochester and Syracuse, New York. A demo released in 2005 brought them much attention, and was a precursor to their first EP, The Redder, the Better, released in Summer 2006 on Triple Attack and Luchador Records. The EP contained catchy, pop-punk songs with lots of of opportunities for energetic sing-a-longs, and was found to be a fan and zine favorite throughout the year.

The band’s debut full-length, Sometimes Things Just Disappear was released in March 2008, also receiving glowing reviews from an even wider number of webzines and great reception from their rapidly growing fanbase. Appearances in “best of” lists followed, as well as tours with The Gaslight Anthem, American Steel, Crime in Stereo, A Wilhelm Scream and Cancer Bats, leading to the band’s signing to Bridge Nine Records, officially announced on January 8, 2009. The label at the same time announced they would issue Sometimes Things Just Disappear on vinyl sometime during spring.

In February/March 2009, the band toured the UK and Europe with The Gaslight Anthem and Frank Turner, with a small string of UK headlining dates subsequent to the tour. During the European visit, they announced plans to return for a US tour with labelmates Have Heart. They also announced that they were to start work on a new album, to be produced by Matt Bayles.

On May 28, 2009, the title and release date of the bands second full-length, Chasing Hamburg was announced in a press release. In compliance to the press release, the album was released on the previously announced date through Bridge Nine Records on both 12” vinyl and CD.

Silent Drive

Silent Drive is a group of individuals whose musical history has been long in the making. Boasting members of Bane, Drowningman, and the short-lived Ink Cartridge Funeral, Silent Drives personnel have been performing and writing within the independent music scene for close to ten years.

Though this four-piece has deep roots in the hardcore/metal scene it is branching out far beyond the constraints of any genre. The recipe is a strict one: anything goes, as long as it rocks. There is no melody too sweet and no riff too heavy for us as long as it says what we want it to say, we have no boundaries, comments bassist Pete Chilton. Musicians first and foremost, any category they are put in will be superseded and canceled out by the fact they are fearless musicians who live for the song and for the process of bringing it to anyone who may enjoy it.

Silent Drives debut album, Love Is Worth It, was produced by Bill Stevenson, member of Descendents and producer of Rise Against, Good Riddance and Anti-Flag. Consisting of eleven dynamic tracks, Love Is Worth It, showcases the eclecticism of the bands influences and the ability to infuse a punk rock sense of ferocity and intensity into their writing. Even with such dense and heavy tracks as 4/16 and The Professional Silent Drive establish a balance with more subtle and somber songs Broken Hearts Club and Boyfriend Notes. With influences ranging from Faith No More and Radiohead to Black Flag and Descendents, Silent Drive is blazing a new genre-bending path.

Dance Gavin Dance

Dance Gavin Dance is an American post-hardcore/progressive rock band formed in Sacramento, California in 2005. It was formed out of the dissolution of several other bands including Farewell Unknown, Ghost Runner on Third, and Five Minute Ride.

Lineup changes, Downtown Battle Mountain Part II, and indefinite hiatus (2010–present)

On February 10, 2010, guitarist Zachary Garren was kicked out of Dance Gavin Dance due to personal conflicts with Will Swan. They played the Soundwave festival as scheduled as a four-piece (a first for the originally six-piece band) with Swan handling all guitar duties and Kurt Travis playing keyboards. Shortly afterwards Garren was replaced by Dan Snook. His first show was on March 12, 2010 in Dance Gavin Dance's hometown at The Boardwalk. Several months later however, Snook and bassist Tim Feerick abruptly left Dance Gavin Dance to create their own band.
After multiple members leaving and rumors of the band breaking up, Jon Mess and Eric Lodge officially rejoined the band in mid 2010. Josh Benton, former guitarist and band mate of Kurt Travis in No Not Constant, took up guitar duties. The band was rumored to be working on a new album with this line-up, but in August Alternative Press released an article saying that vocalist Kurt Travis and Dance Gavin Dance had officially parted ways and Jonny Craig had rejoined the band. It was assumed that Jonny would manage vocal duties for both Dance Gavin Dance and Emarosa, until he was kicked out of Emarosa in in early 2011. Former guitarist Sean O'Sullivan rejoined the band for several home shows towards the end of 2010, returning the band to their Downtown Battle Mountainline-up. In September Dance Gavin Dance posted on their Twitter that they will be recording their new album Downtown Battle Mountain Two later in the year. Shortly afterwards their official Myspace page was updated, stating 'Downtown Battle Mountain Pt. II coming April 2011'. On January 24, 2011, the first single from Downtown Battle Mountain II was released, titled "Heat Seeking Ghost of Sex." Later that same week, Alternative Press released a second track, "The Robot With Human Hair Part 2 1/2."
In March 2011 the band began their US tour with IwrestledabearonceIn Fear And Faith, and Just Like Vinyl, followed by a small European tour, culminating in 2 shows in London playing Downtown Battle Mountain Pt. I in full on the first night and Downtown Battle Mountain Pt. II in full on the second night. The band has been also confirmed for the 2011 Vans Warped Tour.
On January 16, 2011, Jonny Craig tweeted, "I'm sorry everyone but I'm going to be taking a very very very long hiatus. All my tours and CDs are canceled. Thank you and goodnight" later clarifying that he "will be playing out the tours with DGD and Emarosa". Soon afterwards he checked into a detox facility for drug addiction, following a scandal wherein the singer was caught stealing money from fans. Former Tides of Man vocalist Tilian Pearson filled in for Craig on Emarosa's Spring 2011 tour with Chiodos, while all Dance Gavin Dance shows went on as planned. In April Craig announced his departure from Emarosa and stated on Twitter he would be recording two songs with Dance Gavin Dance in the upcoming week.
Drummer Matt Mingus said in an interview with Mind Equals Blown that Dance Gavin Dance plans to release another album with the current, reunited lineup.
As of September 1st, 2011 - Dance Gavin Dance has posted a side-project without Jonny Craig. They have released 4 songs on YouTube streaming now, posted with the band name 'Secret Band'
On October 19th, 2011, Dance Gavin Dance announced that they were going on hiatus. This announcement came shortly after the cancellation of their tour with I Set My Friends On Fire and A Lot Like Birds. Guitarist Will Swan later attributed the cancellation and subsequent hiatus of the band to unspecified issues with Jonny Craig, stating "DGD is on hiatus until Jonny can get his life together. Tour is not the environment for that. That is all.". It was later discovered that Jonny had been arrested for drug-related offenses. Craig was spared a prison sentence, as he was granted a deferred entry of judgment and ordered by the state of California to complete time in drug rehabilitation. His next court hearing is set for April 30, 2012.
On December 23rd, 2011, Dance Gavin Dance announced that they would embark on a short tour with Alot like birds and Decoder in February of 2012.

Vic and Mike Fuentes confirmed to be included in the new project and supergroup, Isles & Glaciers, featuring Craig Owens and Jonny Craig. Pierce the Veil often mix in popular hip hop/rap and pop songs into their own songs during live performances. The band toured for three years straight before releasing their second album, Selfish Machines, on June 21, 2010. They then went on to play the whole of Warped Tour 2010.
